the artist is presenting a large-scale video scenery in which a figurative setting is combined with fleeting projections: like pale moonlight, Ursula Palla makes her film projections flicker over a surreal landscape scene, the colorful fading away, all vital elements depleted. The simulated wasteland of civilization with skeletons and heaps of rubble reminds of decay and destruction; the absurdity of the setting refers to the image inventions of the surrealist avant-garde in the interwar period and evokes fictional wasteland from the genre of science fiction. On the other hand, the images projected above are reminiscent of an exalted dance of things out of control. Like scrap in orbit, they sail through the air, exposed to centrifugal and gravity. ” (Gabrielle Obrist and Claudia Reeb)
